古いモノを修復する場合、一切の古さを払拭し、新品と見間違えるような修復をしてしまうのは、そのモノが長年に渡って蓄積した記憶を リセットしてしまうようで哀しい。また、新しく取り替えたパーツをエイジングの技法を用いて古く見せるのも、そのモノが持つ記憶を強制的に上書きしてしまうようで、これも また哀れです。 古くなって痛んだ事も、壊れてしまった事もそのモノが刻んだ歴史であり、記憶です。失った脚や背もたれは透明な樹脂で元々あったであろう形を想像し、補完しました。透明な樹脂での補完は視覚的には曖昧なものでしかなく、失ったものは視覚的に失ったまま、その椅子が体験した事象をデザインの要素として取り込みました。資源の枯渇が危惧される昨今、様々な対策が試みられています。しかし、モノを使う側にモノへの愛情が無いままでは過剰な消費は繰り返されるでしょう。Grandmother’s Chairはモノの記憶を尊重することでモノへの愛情を示した新しい試みです。 This antique chair is from my grandmother's store. Although it is an attractive chair with a beautiful silhouette, it is clearly getting old. One leg is broken and the backrest is so damaged that it looks sad. However, I still find the chair attractive. I tried to repair the chair to make it usable again. It is sad to loose the memories and associated with an old object when it is repaired. It is as if the act of renewal resets the memories that accumulated within the object. It also feels insensitive to fake the age of new parts by ‘distressing’ their surface. In my work I try to acknowledge the patina of time and memories that belong to an object. I replaced the missing leg and the backrest of the chair by using clear resin casts, so as to acknowledge the absence of the originals.My work Grandmother's chair” suggests that in an age marked by problems associated with excessive production and consumption, we could benefit from a rediscovery of our respect for things from the past. ■祖母的椅子 祖母家的仓库里，有一把老旧的椅子。那是一把轮廓美丽、饱含魅力的椅子。然而，它已十分陈旧，一根椅子腿已经折断，靠背也受损严重，一派凄惨的模样。但是，它蕴含的魅力尚存。怎么做才能让这把椅子重生呢？怀着这样的期盼，我们试图对它进行修复。 修复旧物品时，消除全部的陈旧元素、甚至修复到几可以旧乱新的程度的话，物品常年积累的记忆也会消失殆尽，这是令人遗憾、哀伤的。即使将重新更换的部件进行做旧处理、使它看上去饱经岁月，这种行为仍与强制性地覆盖它所保存的记忆无异，也是令人遗憾、哀伤的。 老旧、损坏的物品都各自记录了历史，是一种记忆。我们想将这样的现象融入设计中。设想缺失的椅子腿、靠背部分的本来面貌，并采用透明树脂进行补全、还原。透明树脂营造出暧昧的视觉影像，缺失的部分就让它在视觉上缺失，将椅子经历到的“缺失”作为重要元素展开设计。 资源枯竭令人堪忧的时下，人们正在尝试各种对策。但是，使用物品时不对正在使用的物品倾入感情，恐怕只能导致无止尽的过剩消费吧。“grandmother’s chair（祖母的椅子）”是尊重物品的记忆、向物品表达情愫的一次崭新尝试。 ………………………………………………………………………………………
